- Online registration for the event will begin on 14th February 2011 to 5th March 2011
- Registration fee is $15/person.
- First 10 groups of 5 will be entitled to a discounted registration fee of $12/person.
- NUS Muslim Society Members will enjoy a discounted registration fee of $12/person.
- Those bringing your own bicycle will be entitled to a registration fee of $7/person.
- A registration booth will also be set up at NUS on the 7th March 2011 to the 9th of March 2011

1 Safety Issues When Cycling on Public Roads
- Participants will be told to wear bright-coloured tops for the event.
- They will be provided with helmets to wear while cycling.
- All cyclists will keep to the leftmost lane.
- All cyclists will keep within their groups and within their groups they will keep in twos.
- 1 facilitator will cycle at the front of the group while the other facilitator will cycle at the rear to ensure that the group does not split up.
- Among the group members themselves, they will have a buddy so that 1 can look after the other while cycling
- Participants and facilitators will be briefed on road safety issues and proper conduct as road users before the commencement of the event
- Participants will be briefed on what to expect as road users when cycling on the road and how best to react to situations or road conditions
- In the event that any accidents/mishaps occur, the group is to wait and not carry on until help arrives
- The cyclists will not overtake any vehicles in any case
- Potential danger points will be marked and pointed out to the facilitators and participants so that they will take extra care
2 Medical Safety Coverage
- 2 Safety Vehicles will tag along with the cycling body, with one Safety I/C inside one of the vehicle
- At least 4 medics will be cycling with the participants and they will position strategically among them.
- Each medic will be equipped with first aid.
- Our medics are all properly trained medics. They have either been members of SJAB, Red Cross or have become medics during their time in National Service. All are equipped to render basic first aid and CPR.
- A communication plan will be devised between the facilitators, the Chief Safety Officer, the Route Manager and the Project Director
3 Safety Issues When There Is Inclement Weather
- The weather status will be checked regularly throughout the duration of the event
- Shelters will be pointed out to the facilitators to take note of in case of unfavourable weather
- Groups are to stay under the shelter until all clear is given to continue cycling
- Facilitators are to take charge if he is able to assess the situation on the ground itself
4 Safety Issues of Participants
- Participants’ level of cycling proficiency will be noted of when they register for the event
- A safety check will be conducted to note down anyone who has been suffering from any form of sickness/illnesses/injuries in the past 48 hours
- Participants and facilitators will be tagged accordingly, via lanyards and fluorescent tubes so that it is easy to tell them apart from the central committee members
- Rest Points have been set aside throughout the route to ensure that participants have ample rest and are not over-strained
- Hydration will be emphasised upon for the event so that the participants and facilitators do not get dehydrated unnecessarily
- Participants will be reminded during the registration to have sufficient rest so that they can stay more focused while cycling
- Participants will be highly encouraged to pack light for the event
- The bicycles, upon collection from the supplier, will be checked on-site to ensure there are no faulty parts
- Spare bicycles will be carried by the lorry in case any breakdown
- In the event that there are any bicycle breakdowns, we will call for a spare bicycle for change, unless it is obvious to remedy the problem on the spot
- However, our responsibilities over the participants will end once we conduct debrief at around 0700 hours, after we have reached the end point and have had our breakfast
5 Safety Issues Concerning Road Conditions
- Another reconnaissance will be conducted on the day itself to ensure that there is no road blocks/obstacles along the route
- They will be briefed properly on the proper conduct as cyclists on the road
- They will be advised against staring directly into vehicle headlights which may cause temporary blindness
- Bicycles will be fitted with working backlights
6 Contact Lists
- A contact list of the participants will be formulated, which will also include their NOK particulars
- Each facilitator will hold the contact list of its group members
- Participants will be told to take note of the contact numbers of their respective facilitators, the Route Manager and the Project Director for emergency purposes. The relevant contact numbers will be printed on lanyards for participants for easy reference.
- Contact list of the relevant authorities to inform in the event that an accident/mishap occurs will be formulated
